{"id":43969,"date":"2025-07-29T01:38:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T01:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43969\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T01:38:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T01:38:07","slug":"sony-pictures-changes-executives-ranks-under-sanford-panitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43969\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony Pictures Changes Executives Ranks Under Sanford Panitch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe executive ranks at Sony\u2019s movie studio are getting a shake-up, with Peter Kang being promoted to president of production of Columbia Pictures and Josh Greenstein stepping down as president of the Motion Picture Group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSony brass officially confirmed the two moves hours after word broke that Greenstein is going to work for David Ellison in a major role once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/skydance\/\" id=\"auto-tag_skydance_1\" data-tag=\"skydance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Skydance<\/a> closes its $8 billion merger with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/paramount\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paramount_1\" data-tag=\"paramount\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount<\/a> Global. Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-rothman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-rothman_1\" data-tag=\"tom-rothman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Rothman<\/a> signed a multi-year extension on his contract as the chairman-CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sony-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sony-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"sony-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sony Pictures<\/a>\u2019 Motion Picture Group, signaling that the top job isn\u2019t available as of yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKang will report to Sanford Panitch, who now becomes the sole president of Sony\u2019s motion picture group, having previously shared the job with Greenstein. Kang joined Sony in 2019 from Lionsgate, where he served as co-president of production. He is a veteran of Paramount and 20th Century, working on projects that include the Planet of the Apes franchise and Gone Girl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPanitch joined Sony in 2015 and a year later was named the president of Columbia Pictures. In 2019, he was promoted to president of the Motion Picture Group alongside Greenstein. Prior to Sony, he held positions at 20th Century (n\u00e9e Fox) and founded Fox International Productions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile Greenstein shared creative oversight with Panitch as co-president of the Motion Picture Group, he came from the marketing and distribution side of the aisle initially. In the wake of his departure, Danielle Misher, head of theatrical marketing, and\u00a0Steven O\u2019Dell, president of international marketing and distribution, will continue to oversee the marketing operation at the Motion Picture Group. The duo will now report directly to Rothman instead of Greenstein.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlso on the marketing side, Nicholas Weiss\u00a0and\u00a0Dave Fruchbom\u00a0have been promoted to co-heads of Global Creative and Strategy, reporting to Misher and working closely with O\u2019Dell on international matters. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnd in further changes on the production side in the wake of Kang\u2019s promotion, 35-year Sony veteran\u00a0Andrea Giannetti\u00a0has been elevated to EVP, production and senior creative at Columbia Pictures. Kang and Giannetti will continue to report to Panitch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe are all sorry to see Josh go. He has been a wonderful colleague for many years, and we wish him the very best,\u201d Rothman said. \u201cThe key to a sound organization, however, is to have a strong bench. Our marketing group has that, and I am very pleased to recognize some of our outstanding longtime talent with expanded roles. Dave and Nick are two of the finest creative advertising minds I have encountered in my many years of doing this, and Danielle and Steven provide expert, experienced leadership.\u00a0I am confident our marketing prowess will only grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRothman continued, \u201cLikewise, Peter is one of the most skillful and dedicated production executives in all of Hollywood. Sanford and I have worked with him off and on for over 25 years, with great success.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that Peter will keep the Columbia lady\u2019s torch shining brightly, and that Ange will continue to deliver big hit movies, as she always has.\u00a0 And I know I can count on Sanford to embrace his expanded responsibilities.
