Last week, Dabo Swinney<\/a> set the college football world ablaze with a fiery press conference when the longtime Clemson coach publicly accused Ole Miss and first-year coach<\/a>\u00a0Pete Golding<\/a>\u00a0of \u201cblatant tampering.\u201d This stems from the controversial recruitment of Tigers linebacker signee\u00a0Luke Ferrelli<\/a>, a former Cal<\/a> transfer who\u00a0left Clemson after already being enrolled in classes for a week to re-enter the portal and sign with the Rebels on Jan. 22<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Swinney and Tigers AD\u00a0Graham Neff\u00a0subsequently reported Ole Miss to the NCAA<\/a>, providing a\u00a0detailed timeline<\/a>\u00a0and receipts of the Rebels\u2019 conversations with Ferrelli, which included texting contract offers while he was actually in class at\u00a0Clemson. That was the part of college football\u2019s latest tampering allegations that set off former ESPN analyst and Georgia<\/a> alum David Pollack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, this dude\u2019s in sociology class. \u2026 He\u2019s enrolled at Clemson, he\u2019s enrolled in classes, \u2026 and now you have another university that tampers, that comes in (texting) out contracts,\u201d Pollack said on Thursday\u2019s episode of his See Ball, Get Ball podcast<\/a>. \u201cThis is not the kid\u2019s fault. This is the adults\u2019 fault, and the adults need consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n

NCAA VP of enforcement\u00a0Jon Duncan\u00a0later confirmed there is an \u201congoing investigation\u201d into allegations involving Ole Miss\u00a0in a statement to On3\u2019s\u00a0Pete Nakos\u00a0last Friday<\/a>. But in the meantime, Pollack called on the NCAA to drop the hammer on Golding and the Rebels for effectively crossing a red line in sports. And if they don\u2019t, the former Bulldogs star suggests it could prompt secession from the Power Four leagues.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to tamper, it\u2019s another thing when this dude is enrolled on your campus and he\u2019s going to classes. \u2026 This has to be a (red) line,\u201d Pollack continued<\/a>. \u201cAnd if you don\u2019t want to make this a line, NCAA, so be it. That\u2019s fine, but you just screwed college football. Because gave every single (team) the right to do this exact same thing. (An opposing team) can go to any school at any time and purge from your roster. You signed them? Who cares? It\u2019s atrocious for any part of our game. It\u2019s a black eye. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf the NCAA doesn\u2019t do something with this (Ole Miss tampering case), I quit with the NCAA. Go away.
