During the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ 131-124 loss to the Detroit Pistons<\/a>, Stephen Curry was forced to exit the game. The two-time MVP was suffering from right knee soreness. He didn’t return to the court for the remainder of the contest.<\/p>\n

When speaking with the media <\/a>after the game, head coach Steve Kerr provided a positive update on Golden State’s superstar guard. Kerr noted how he expects Curry to be ok, with not a long-term absence expected. He did, however, hedge his bets by noting that a full update would be provided on Saturday, Jan. 31.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019ll be OK,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything major, but we\u2019ll have an update tomorrow (Saturday)…Yeah, it\u2019s the knee that kept him out of the game in Minneapolis (second night of back-to-back on Monday). It\u2019s been nagging him the last week or so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before exiting the game, Curry dropped 23 points on 7-of-16 shooting. He’d also dished out two assists and grabbed one rebound. Nevertheless, Kerr and the coaching staff were right to take a cautious approach with Curry. He’s dealt with knee soreness in recent weeks, and managing his minutes is the best way to ensure he’s available when the games start to matter as we get deeper into the season.<\/p>\n

Golden State will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 3, when they face the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>. With multiple days’ rest between games, the hope will be that Curry is cleared to play against Joel Embiid and Paul George’s team.<\/p>\n
