\n\tSteve Martin<\/a> and Martin Short<\/a> paid tribute to the late Catherine O\u2019Hara Friday night, raising a glass to the star during their \u201cThe Best of Steve Martin and Martin Short\u201d comedy show in Austin, Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCatherine O\u2019Hara, I met when she was 18 years of age, and all these years later, she has been the greatest, most brilliant, kindest, sweetest angel that any of us worked with,\u201d said Short alongside Martin. \u201cSo god bless Catherine,\u201d he added while toasting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the two stood on stage, a large image of the actress was on the screen behind them. The tribute came just hours after O\u2019Hara\u2019s death was announced on Friday<\/a>. Her agency, CAA, confirmed she died at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness. She was 71.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tA longtime friend and collaborator, Short first met O\u2019Hara on the Canadian sketch comedy series \u201cSecond City Television,\u201d which ran from 1976 to 1984. Martin previously worked with the \u201cBest in Show\u201d and \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d actor on the 1994 film \u201cA Simple Twist of Fate,\u201d directed by Gillies MacKinnon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSince O\u2019Hara\u2019s death, a number of stars have shared heartfelt messages<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cMama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say,\u201d O\u2019Hara\u2019s \u201cHome Alone\u201d co-star Macaulay Culkin wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI love you. I\u2019ll see you later.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSeth Rogan, who co-starred with O\u2019Hara on \u201cThe Studio,\u201d also shared his thoughts on Instagram. \u201cReally don\u2019t know what to say\u2026 I told O\u2019Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I\u2019d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen. \u2018Home Alone\u2019 was the movie that made me want to make movies,\u201d Rogen wrote<\/a>. \u201cGetting to work with her was a true honour. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous\u2026 she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it. This is just devastating. We\u2019re all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it.\u201d<\/p>\n
