{"id":442827,"date":"2026-02-01T13:13:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T13:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/442827\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T13:13:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T13:13:13","slug":"hotel-hans-bridges-two-very-different-parts-of-copenhagen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/442827\/","title":{"rendered":"Hotel Hans bridges &#8220;two very different parts of Copenhagen&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Danish studio Norr\u00f8n Architects designed the interior of Hotel Hans, which straddles two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/copenhagen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Copenhagen<\/a> neighbourhoods, by blending the greenery of Frederiksberg with N\u00f8rrebro&#8217;s industrial vibe.<\/p>\n<p>Located where the two central Copenhagen neighbourhoods meet, Hotel Hans was envisioned as &#8220;a dialogue,&#8221; the architects said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291075 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_16-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Lobby bar with metal furniture\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Hotel Hans&#8217; lobby has lamps informed by car headlights<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We approached Hotel Hans as a bridge between two very different parts of Copenhagen,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/norroen.dk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Norr\u00f8n Architects<\/a> co-founder Poul H\u00f8ilund told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rather than blending the identities of N\u00f8rrebro and Frederiksberg into one neutral expression, we wanted the hotel to reflect both. The concept is built around a dialogue between raw and refined, urban and green, energetic and calm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291076 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_20-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Details of metal wall elements\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Sculptural aluminium elements decorate the walls<\/p>\n<p>The studio was chosen to create the interior of the 91-room hotel, which is located inside a building from 1900, by owner Br\u00f8chner Hotels.<\/p>\n<p>It decided to work with a variety of materials, including terrazzo and polished steel, to represent the two different neighbourhoods \u2013 the industrial N\u00f8rrebro and the more upmarket and historic Frederiksberg.<\/p>\n<p>The lobby side faces N\u00f8rrebro and features bespoke light fixtures that were informed by urban street lamps and vintage car headlights.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291078 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_24-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Restaurant bar with terrazzo floor\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>The BOLO restaurant has a terrazzo floor<\/p>\n<p>Here, Norr\u00f8n Architects also added sculptural wall elements that were made from aluminium to reflect the motion from the street.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On the N\u00f8rrebro side, we used more industrial and robust materials such as darker terrazzo, aluminium, steel, and grey tones to mirror the street life and urban energy,&#8221; H\u00f8ilund said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291082 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_28-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"BOLO restaurant with green walls\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Green colours were used throughout Hotel Hans<\/p>\n<p>The lobby bar functions as a workspace and cafe in the daytime and turns into a cocktail bar in the evening. The ground floor also houses the BOLO restaurant, which focuses on Mediterranean-style food.<\/p>\n<p>The side of Hans Hotel that faces Frederiksberg houses a courtyard, and the studio wanted this part of the hotel to feel like an extension of the outdoor space.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On the Frederiksberg side, the palette becomes richer and more elegant, with deep green terrazzo, dark wood, soft textiles, and polished steel, referencing historic apartments and the area&#8217;s strong connection to greenery,&#8221; Petra Hotel\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted the hotel to feel personal and tactile rather than anonymous,&#8221; H\u00f8ilund said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By designing bespoke furniture, lighting, and architectural elements, we could create a stronger connection to the building&#8217;s history and to Copenhagen&#8217;s tradition of well-crafted interiors, while still expressing it in a contemporary way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291081 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_27-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Table with stone base and green top\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Petterson &amp; Hein also created sculptural furniture for Hotel Hans<\/p>\n<p>Green hues were used throughout the hotel, including in the restaurant and the all-green bedrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The studio used Frederiksberg green, a local colour that features in many of that area&#8217;s historic interiors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2291069 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/hotel-hans-bridge-different-parts-copenhagen-norron-architects_dezeen_2364_col_3-852x1278.jpg\" alt=\"Bedroom with green walls and metal lamp\" width=\"1576\" height=\"2364\"  \/>The bedrooms feature varying shades of green<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It gave the project a strong sense of place and a timeless quality,&#8221; H\u00f8ilund said. &#8220;From there, we added softer green tones to create variation and calm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Green also acts as a linking element in the hotel, reinforcing the connection to the courtyard and greenery on the Frederiksberg side while softening the more industrial character of the N\u00f8rrebro side,&#8221; Hein sculpture can be found in a hallway<\/p>\n<p>Other recent hospitality openings in Copenhagen include a restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/03\/16\/wiercinski-studio-amator-copenhagen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">designed to mimic a &#8220;home dining&#8221;
