{"id":443274,"date":"2026-02-01T18:26:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T18:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/443274\/"},"modified":"2026-02-01T18:26:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T18:26:07","slug":"bitterly-cold-temps-dont-stop-runners-from-wrapping-up-donna-marathon-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/443274\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitterly cold temps don\u2019t stop runners from wrapping up DONNA Marathon Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. \u2013 Freezing temperatures were not going to stop dedicated Jacksonville Beach runners from completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/31\/donna-marathon-race-day-weather-forecast-freezing-temps-and-wind-advisory-tips-for-staying-warm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2026\/01\/31\/donna-marathon-race-day-weather-forecast-freezing-temps-and-wind-advisory-tips-for-staying-warm\/\">19th annual DONNA Marathon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The marathon wrapped on Sunday at the Seawalk Pavilion despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/weather\/2026\/02\/01\/weather-alert-day-strong-winds-with-potential-for-record-low-temperatures-make-for-dangerously-cold-weather\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/weather\/2026\/02\/01\/weather-alert-day-strong-winds-with-potential-for-record-low-temperatures-make-for-dangerously-cold-weather\/\">potentially record-low temperatures and strong winds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">News4JAX meteorologist Katie Garner urged the community to layer up, limit time outdoors, and treat this like true winter weather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Seth Butler was visibly shivering, but said he wasn\u2019t going to let the weather stop him from making it to the finish line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI got to complete the marathon,&#8221; Butler said. \u201cI did the marathon last year. I can\u2019t be the guy who didn\u2019t complete the full.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Butler said his driving force was finishing under four hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThis guy is going to win it all,\u201d Seth\u2019s friend said in support of his efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The race experience brings together thousands of runners, survivors of breast cancer, families, and supporters to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s awesome, running for a cause, spreading awareness, and raising money; it\u2019s a great deal,\u201d first-time runner Conner Moore said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The race already surpassed it\u2019s $200,000 goal on Friday.
