Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep<\/a> four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen<\/a> is one of the top 2027 prospects in the Northeast. It\u2019ll be a challenge for local programs to keep him home.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder has garnered serious interest from a slew of high-profile programs and he\u2019s getting an up-close look at one this weekend.<\/p>\n

Allen is in Tallahassee spending time with the staff at Florida State<\/a> for a big junior day:<\/p>\n

At the beginning of January, Allen broke down his recruitment with Rivals\u2019 Chad Simmons. He didn\u2019t take a ton of visits back in the fall, but his process will continue to speed up between his junior and senior seasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I commit, it\u2019s going to be about how I can grow and mature as a man,\u201d Allen told Simmons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Florida State, of course, is far from the only big name that\u2019s after Allen\u2019s pledge. Alabama<\/a>, LSU<\/a> and Texas<\/a> are others he\u2019s hoping to get an in-person look at. He landed an offer from the Longhorns earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Throughout January, Allen was visited by coaches from Texas A&M<\/a>, South Carolina<\/a>, Ohio State<\/a>, Pitt<\/a>, Miami<\/a> and Illinois<\/a>. There\u2019s still a ways to go in Allen\u2019s recruitment, as he currently plans to take his process into the December signing period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of consistency.\u00a0Tennessee<\/a>,\u00a0Illinois<\/a>,\u00a0Texas A&M<\/a>,\u00a0Indiana<\/a>\u00a0and others are reaching out every week,\u201d Allen previously said. \u201cHow they communicate means a lot to me. It shows how much of a priority I am to them. When coaches take time out of their day to reach out, that\u2019s a really good feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allen is the No. 145 overall prospect and No. 7 LB in the 2027 cycle, according to the\u00a0Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He\u2019s also the No. 3 player in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Looking at FSU\u2019s 2027 class so far<\/p>\n

On Jan. 30, FSU picked up a big commitment from Largo (Fla.)\u00a0Indian Rocks Christian<\/a>\u00a0four-star EDGE\u00a0Anthony Cavallaro<\/a>. He\u2019s the No. 30 EGDE in the cycle.<\/p>\n

Cavallaro is Florida State\u2019s first commit in the 2027 cycle since November, when Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County four-star linebacker\u00a0Gregory Batson<\/a>\u00a0jumped in the fold. Batson is a top-300 recruit and the No. 14 LB in the nation early on.<\/p>\n

Ruskin (Fla.) Lennard four-star safety\u00a0Mekhi Williams<\/a>\u00a0continues to headline the pledge list, checking in as the No. 120 recruit and No. 11 safety in the cycle. He\u2019s been committed since the end of March, and while other programs have remained in pursuit, he\u2019s still solid with the \u2018Noles.<\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Plantation three-star cornerback\u00a0Jemari Foreman<\/a>\u00a0and Jacksonville Bartram Trail three-star tight end\u00a0Connor Winn<\/a>\u00a0round out the class to date. Foreman is the No. 50 corner in the cycle, while Winn checks in as the No. 33 TE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ramsey (N.J.)
