Manchester United youngster Diego Leon has shown his admiration for one of the team\u2019s senior stars.<\/p>\n

There are many great outcomes when Manchester United are playing well<\/a> and winning games<\/a>. The mood in the fanbase is transformed, and the players\u2019 confidence keeps on rising.<\/p>\n

One of the positives is that the success and excitement filters down to the academy<\/a>, with young players inspired by the first team.<\/p>\n

Diego Leon has struck up a friendship with fellow South American defender Lisandro Martinez<\/a> since joining the club.<\/p>\n

Leon and Martinez both travelled on the club\u2019s 2025 pre-season tour<\/a>, even though the latter was still recovering from an ACL injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Martinez has now recovered and is re-established as a regular starter for Manchester United, producing consistently impressive performances.<\/p>\n

He was excellent against Fulham, making a vital interception in the second half to deny a goalscoring opportunity, and impressing with his leadership right up until the full-time whistle.<\/p>\n

Leon posted a message to Martinez after the game on Instagram, writing: \u201cQue jugador \ud83e\udd2f\ud83e\udd2f\ud83d\udc4f\u201d, translated as \u201cWhat a player\u201d.<\/p>\n

Martinez had captioned his post simply: \u201cTheatre of Dreams,\u201d sharing an image where he was sliding in to make a tackle.<\/p>\n

He is one of Manchester United\u2019s best players right now, and it is no surprise that a young player like Diego Leon is using him as an inspiration.<\/p>\n

Diego Leon on track<\/p>\n

Diego Leon joined Manchester United<\/a> from Cerro Porteno last summer and he has been playing for the under-21s.<\/p>\n

Leon has already made his senior Paraguay international debut<\/a>, and he is regarded at Carrington<\/a> to be ahead of schedule in his development<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There had been question over whether Leon might go out on loan, and while this could still happen on transfer deadline day, Patrick Dorgu\u2019s injury<\/a> means United lack cover for Luke Shaw at left-back. <\/p>\n

Leon might still end up playing alongside Martinez before the season is done.<\/p>\n
