Artists accepting awards at this year\u2019s Grammys ceremony have used their time on the podium to denounce the United States government\u2019s crackdown on immigrants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Artists, including Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish, wore badges reading \u201cICE OUT\u201d and used their acceptance speeches at Sunday\u2019s ceremony to express their outrage over the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that have provoked furious protests and resulted in several deaths on the streets and among those in detention.<\/p>\n

The celebrity pushback came amid a surging public backlash against ICE operations in multiple cities, which have led to widespread protests over the fatal shootings of two American citizens<\/a> by federal agents and the arrest of five-year-old<\/a>\u00a0Liam Conejo Ramos and his father.<\/p>\n

\u201cIce out,\u201d said Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny, collecting a Grammy for his album Debi Tirar Mas Fotos. \u201cWe\u2019re not savages, we\u2019re not animals, we\u2019re not aliens; we are humans, and we are Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny\u2019s upcoming half-time performance at this year\u2019s Super Bowl has been singled out for ICE attention by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi\u00a0Noem. She has warned that only \u201claw-abiding Americans who love this country\u201d should attend because federal agents would be \u201call over\u201d the February 8 event, according to a New York Times report published in October.<\/p>\n

Billie Eilish, who received an award for her song \u201cWildflower\u201d, also made her feelings known from the stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cF*** ICE,\u201d said the singer-songwriter. \u201cNo one is illegal on stolen land.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damian Kulash, lead vocalist of the band OK Go, told news agency Reuters that \u201cfeeling any sense of joy and lightness\u201d at the event felt \u201ca little bit irresponsible\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur own government has raised an army of \u2026 masked anonymous men to attack its own people, and that feels utterly irresponsible for us to be celebrating anything right now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Justin Vernon, whose band Bon Iver is up for best alternative music album, said he wore a whistle to honour the legal observers who are documenting federal agents\u2019 actions on the streets.<\/p>\n

Jess Morales Rocketto, executive director of Latino advocacy group Maremoto, told The Associated Press news agency that the show of outrage was \u201cmore than a red carpet moment\u201d.<\/p>\n
