Google Cloud, one of Alphabet&#8217;s (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/GOOG\" data-ylk=\"slk:GOOG;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GOOG<\/a>) fastest-growing businesses, and Liberty Global (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/LBTYA\" data-ylk=\"slk:LBTYA;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LBTYA<\/a>) have agreed a five-year strategic partnership \u200bto deploy Google&#8217;s Gemini AI models and other cloud tools \u200cacross the cable group&#8217;s European operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Liberty Global, which has about 80 million fixed and \u200cmobile connections across Europe, said the deal &#8211; reported by Reuters for the first time on Tuesday &#8211; would support new consumer services, including AI-powered search and discovery on its Horizon TV platform, as well as customer-service automation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;Our \u2060expanded partnership with Google \u200cCloud represents a significant milestone for Liberty Global,&#8221; Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The \u200dcompanies will also offer more Google products such as Pixel phones and watches as well as smart-home devices through Liberty&#8217;s operating units, which include Britain&#8217;s Virgin \u200bMedia O2, Belgium&#8217;s Telenet, the Netherlands&#8217; VodafoneZiggo and Switzerland&#8217;s Sunrise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The agreement \u200cexpands existing collaborations between the two firms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Liberty Global said the new programme aimed to improve network reliability and security, pursue autonomous network operations, and potentially allow Google Cloud to use spare capacity in Liberty&#8217;s data centres, including via its AtlasEdge joint venture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The companies said the partnership \u2060would also target small-business customers with cloud, \u200bcybersecurity and AI services, and look at \u200bways to monetise Liberty&#8217;s telecoms data while maintaining privacy requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;Our goal is simple: to use technology to cut through \u200dcomplexity and bring \u2060value to our customers and partners,&#8221; Tara Brady, Google Cloud president for the EMEA region, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">AI partnerships have increased across the telecoms \u2060sector as operators seek to reduce network costs and develop new revenue streams \u200cwhile continuing to invest heavily in fibre and 5G.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">(Reporting by \u200cSam Tabahriti;
