The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to interview Minnesota Vikings passing game coordinator\/tight ends coach Brian Angelichio for the team\u2019s offensive coordinator opening, per beat writer Mark Kaboly.<\/p>\n
Kaboly shared the news in a long Twitter\/X post late Monday night.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe Steelers will now pivot to Minnesota passing game coordinator\/tight ends coach and Vikings\u2019 head coach Kevin O\u2019Connell\u2019s right-hand man, Brian Angelichio, for an interview at some point over the next few days, according to sources. Tolzien has only been coaching in the NFL since 2020 and has never carried a title larger than quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n Angelichio, 53, has worked in Minnesota since 2022. He\u2019s been in the NFL since 2012 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired him as their tight ends coach. He, like many of Mike McCarthy\u2019s confirmed or rumored hires, spent time working with McCarthy. From 2016-2018, Angelichio worked as the Green Bay Packers\u2019 tight ends coach.<\/p>\n He also carries connections to Pittsburgh. From 2006-2010, he served under Dave Wannstedt as the Panthers tight ends coach. Angelichio has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Washington Commanders all in the role as tight ends coach. Kaboly notes Angelichio could assist with the team\u2019s tight ends and candidate Chase Haslett,<\/a> who interviewed with Pittsburgh, is \u201cunlikely\u201d to land the job.<\/p>\n Angelichio is the third known offensive coordinator candidate for the position. Dallas Cowboys TEs Coach Lunda Wells interviewed virtually last Thursday while Tolzien interviewed Monday.<\/a> Per Kaboly, that was an in-person meeting. It\u2019s not known if Angelichio will meet virtually on face-to-face.<\/p>\n The bulk of McCarthy\u2019s staff has been built but an offensive coordinator hire has yet to be made. Though McCarthy will handle the team\u2019s play calling, the OC will still be responsible for game planning, organizing, and assisting McCarthy. After losing Gerald Alexander<\/a> to Minnesota, Pittsburgh might hire away one of the Vikings\u2019 key assistants.<\/p>\n
