Late night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> promised to return to the scene of a moment that triggered President Donald Trump<\/a> \u2015 under one very specific condition. <\/p>\n

Kimmel pointed out that the new documentary about first lady Melania Trump<\/a> beat expectations by taking in $7 million over the weekend. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the biggest opening for a non-musical vanity project\/brazen corporate bribe in 10 years,\u201d he said of the film, for which Amazon<\/a> paid $75 million<\/a> for production, distribution and promotion.<\/p>\n

The movie has a 6% score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, but Kimmel said it was getting \u201ca strong 100%\u201d on Fox News<\/a>, where network personality Kayleigh McEnany<\/a> gushed that it should be nominated for an Oscar. <\/p>\n

\u201cMark my words right now,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cIf \u2018Melania\u2019 gets nominated for an Oscar, I will host that show whether they ask me to or not. I will insist on it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Kimmel hosted the Oscars four times, and Trump wasn\u2019t happy about it \u2015 with one moment in particular really setting him off. <\/p>\n

During the 2024 ceremony, Trump fired off a message insulting Kimmel while the show was still under way. Kimmel read the message on the air, adding that he was surprised Trump was still up and watching. <\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t it past your jail time<\/a>?\u201d he asked. <\/p>\n

Trump raged about that moment for most of the rest of the year<\/a>, often bringing it up on the campaign trail. <\/p>\n

Kimmel said he was offered the hosting gig for 2025, but turned it down<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Now, there\u2019s at least some chance he\u2019ll be back in 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know how this ends, right?\u201d Kimmel asked on Monday night. \u201cThis ends with Melania winning the first-ever FIFA best actress award.\u201d <\/p>\n

FIFA, the governing body for soccer, gave the president<\/a> its first ever \u201cFIFA Peace Prize\u201d earlier this year in a move that led to an ethics complaint<\/a>.<\/p>\n
