The shutdown is over \u2014 for now. The House approved and the president signed the Senate\u2019s spending package this afternoon, buying lawmakers exactly 10 days to strike a deal on reforms to immigration enforcement. John Thune says<\/a> that\u2019s \u201can impossibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chuck Schumer wants tighter warrant requirements, an end to roving patrols and a prohibition against federal agents wearing masks \u2014 and he says those reforms have to come through Congress<\/a> because nobody can trust Donald Trump or Kristi Noem to do it themselves.Mike Johnson has already rejected<\/a> two of Schumer\u2019s three demands \u2014 and he says<\/a> sanctuary cities \u201cmust be a part of\u201d any discussions.<\/p>\n

Jeanine Pirro walked back her threat to arrest anyone with a gun in D.C. after blowback from Republicans<\/a> and other Second Amendment aficionados<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pirro on Monday<\/a>: \u201cYou bring a gun into this District, count on going to jail. I don\u2019t care if you have a license in another district, and I don\u2019t care if you\u2019re a law-abiding gun owner somewhere else.\u201dPirro today<\/a>: \u201cI am a proud supporter of the Second Amendment. We are focused on individuals who are unlawfully carrying guns and will continue building on that momentum to keep our communities safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. forces shot down an Iranian drone that \u201caggressively approached\u201d<\/a> the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea.<\/p>\n

Police arrested Jill Biden\u2019s ex-husband on murder charges. Jill Biden and William Stevenson divorced<\/a> in 1975 \u2014 51 years ago and two years before she married Joe Biden.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Gang of Eight\u2019 will review a whistleblower complaint against Tulsi Gabbard. The Wall Street Journal<\/a> says the complaint is \u201cso highly classified\u201d that its release could cause \u201cgrave damage to national security.\u201d Gabbard\u2019s spokesperson says<\/a> it\u2019s a \u201cnothingburger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bill and Hillary Clinton agreed to be deposed by the House Oversight Committee on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27, ending \u2014 for now<\/a> \u2014 threats to hold them in contempt of Congress.<\/p>\n

The Administration<\/p>\n

When Trump said he wanted to \u2018nationalize\u2019 elections, Karoline Leavitt said he just meant he supports a bill<\/a> that would require people to show a passport or birth certificate before they register to vote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president believes in the United States Constitution,\u201d Leavitt said. \u201cHowever, he believes there has obviously been a lot of fraud and irregularities that have taken place in American elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

The administration told a federal judge not to pause work on Trump\u2019s ballroom because doing so would prolong<\/a> the \u201cunsightly excavation,\u201d which \u201cis, in and of itself, a hazard and complicates Secret Service operations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pentagon threatened to withdraw support for Scouting America \u2014 the organization formerly known as the Boy Scouts<\/a> \u2014 unless it stops embracing<\/a> \u201cDEI and other social justice, gender-fluid ideological stances.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cScouting America remains far from perfect, but they have firmly committed to a return to core principles,\u201d Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote. \u201cBack to God and country\u2014immediately!\u201dDepartment of Corrections<\/p>\n
