\u201cView\u201d co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> and Sunny Hostin hit back at billionaire Elon Musk<\/a> over his hot take<\/a> on rumors that Lupita Nyong\u2019o<\/a> would star as Helen of Troy in Christopher Nolan\u2019s film adaptation of Homer\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musk used his X platform last week to declare that Nolan \u201clost his integrity<\/a>\u201d in a response to a user who argued<\/a> that casting Nyong\u2019o to play the Greek mythological figure didn\u2019t reflect descriptions of Helen as \u201cfair skinned, blonde, and \u2018the face that launched a thousand ships\u2019\u201d into war due to her beauty.<\/p>\n

Nyong\u2019o \u2014 an Oscar winner and the daughter of Kenyan politician Anyang\u2019 Nyong\u2019o \u2014 is named among the all-star cast of Nolan\u2019s film on IMDb<\/a>, but her role is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

Goldberg kicked off the discussion<\/a> by reminding Musk that Lupita Nyong\u2019o is considered to be one of the \u201cworld\u2019s most beautiful<\/a> women\u201d and the billionaire doesn\u2019t have to see the movie after it drops in July.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why you feel like you need to speak on this,\u201d Goldberg said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I would suggest looking in a mirror if you have any concerns about people\u2019s looks, if this is where we\u2019re going. And don\u2019t bother to try to clown me, baby, I know what I look like! You know, there\u2019s so many things I want to say to you that are rude and awful, but I won\u2019t do it. But know that I\u2019m thinking it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"LupitaLupita Nyong’o is listed in the cast for Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey,” but her role is not confirmed.<\/p>\n

Hostin chimed in, remarking that anyone can play a \u201cfictional character\u201d such as Helen and \u201cbeauty, in and of itself, is subjective.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no standard of beauty. It doesn\u2019t have to be a white person that plays this part,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Hostin made a nod to Musk\u2019s history of pushing the \u201cgreat replacement\u201d conspiracy theory, pointing to how the billionaire recently amplified a post<\/a> that called for \u201cwhite solidarity\u201d and warned that white men \u201cwill be slaughtered\u201d if they become a minority.<\/p>\n

The billionaire, she noted, has also warned<\/a> that white people are a \u201crapidly diminishing minority\u201d of the global population and accused<\/a> the South African government of being \u201csuper racist against anyone who isn\u2019t Black,\u201d an apparent advancement of unfounded claims<\/a> of a \u201cwhite genocide\u201d in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so we know what this is. He is a white supremacist. In my view, he is a racist. And I think we call a thing a thing,\u201d Hostin said.<\/p>\n
