ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) – A special celebration took place Wednesday evening in Ishpeming.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame hosted a three-part celebration: commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Suicide Hill Ski Jump, recognizing of the contributions of Dave Holli and a screening of the film \u2018Michigan\u2019s Skiing Legacy\u2019 by Ryan Busch.<\/p>\n
The Hall of Fame is the only national museum located in the U.P.<\/p>\n
Busch says he hopes people left the celebration with a greater appreciation for the special place Upper Michigan has in skiing history.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a legacy here, being the birthplace of organized skiing in the United States,\u201d Busch said. \u201cThat\u2019s why the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame is here. And there\u2019s so many other legendary volunteers that really pushed the narrative of Michigan\u2019s skiing legacy and our beautiful Upper Peninsula.\u201d <\/p>\n
The Hall of Fame will recognize this year\u2019s inductees in April in Snowbird, Utah.
