He was expected to go into the Milan Cortina Games as the No. 3 goalie behind <a data-player-guid=\"346a82b8-d1c3-758f-53ff-1bf7287b88bb\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/3042109\/juuse-saros\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Juuse Saros<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"025edf14-dff2-4f5e-8587-b4e3cc0779c9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/4341584\/kevin-lankinen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Lankinen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All three are making their debut at the Olympics for the defending champion. Finland won in Beijing in 2022, the second consecutive Games not involving NHL players, who are back for the first time since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The Finns will be without top center and prospective captain <a data-player-guid=\"6317d1c0-624f-90e8-967d-0330ef4ef85c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/3041970\/aleksander-barkov\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aleksander Barkov<\/a> after the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion tore ligaments in his right knee during <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"195561c3-b7d9-935e-0623-8f0a00357080\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/fla\/florida-panthers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Florida Panthers<\/a> training camp in September.
