A woman who used to spend hundreds of pounds a month on takeaways says is worth splashing out on Mounjaro weight loss jabs \u2013 with the cost balancing out after she shed more than seven stone. Somers Arrowsmith wore a size 24 and weighed 17-and-a-half stone at the height of her weight issues, which saw her splurge \u00a350 a week on pizza and burgers from local fast food joints or McDonald\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The unhealthy habit wasn\u2019t just breaking the bank \u2013 it was causing health complications that worried the young woman, including back pain from two slipped discs. Within weeks, the weight was \u201cfalling off\u201d, and Somers has gone on to totally overhaul her lifestyle, becoming unrecognisable even to herself when she looks in the mirror. And while Mounjaro has raised eyebrows with soaring prices ranging from \u00a3120-\u00a3350 per month, the expense has completely balanced out for Somers.<\/p>\n

\u201cStopping the takeaways has funded my medication,\u201d said the GP receptionist from Leicestershire. \u201cI\u2019ve saved money cutting down on my food portions, but if it were based solely on takeaways \u2013 Mounjaro has basically funded itself throughout my weight loss journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d usually have spent \u00a3200 a month on takeaway food, and I was paying the same amount per month for the higher doses. I feel amazing in myself and so much healthier for stopping the rubbish foods \u2013 and now I\u2019m reaching the end of my medication journey, I can start saving that \u00a3200 and putting it towards other things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Somers started using Mounjaro, which she purchased through weight loss medication provider Voy, in October 2024, with concerns about her weight and health. She said: \u201cBefore starting, I thought there was no way it was going to work for me \u2013 I enjoyed takeaways and binge eating too much.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d tried dieting and Slimming World in the past, but never found myself in the right frame of mind. I\u2019d seriously considered having a gastric bypass, despite the risks and potential complications, until a friend of mine started using Mounjaro.<\/p>\n

She is now set to come off the medication entirely, having completely overhauled her lifestyle, and now weighs 10 stone and wears a size 10 in clothes.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI’ve found the process completely life changing, and I could absolutely not have done it without Voy. Some mornings I wake up and feel no different. It’s not until I catch myself in the mirror that I really can see how far I’ve come.<\/p>\n
