\n\tDonald Trump<\/a> posted on Saturday that he is giving \u201cserious consideration\u201d to revoking Rosie O\u2019Donnell\u2019s citizenship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe president posted on Truth Social, \u201cBecause of the fact that Rosie O\u2019Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe president cannot revoke the citizenship of someone born in the U.S., something that legal scholars have long noted.<\/a> The 14th Amendment to the Constitution says, \u201cAll persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Donnell, who was born in New York, is a longtime Trump nemesis. She moved her family to Ireland earlier this year, saying in a TikTok video that \u201cwhen it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that\u2019s when we will consider coming back.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tO\u2019Donnell has continued to be critical of Trump on TikTok and other social media, posting earlier this week that Trump \u201chas put this country in danger\u201d with his \u201chorrible decisions.\u201d She said that the cuts to the National Weather Service to the deaths in the flash floods in Texas. \u201cThese are the results that we are going to see on a daily basis,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\n\tTrump has sought to end the practice of \u201cbirthright\u201d citizenship via executive order. That has been challenged in the courts, and this past week a judge blocked Trump\u2019s effort<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite signing an executive order earlier this year to ensure that the federal government would not engage in \u201cany conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen,\u201d Trump has sought to sanction dissenting voices. Among other things, he recently threatened to prosecute CNN for reporting on an app that tracks sightings of ICE agents, and earlier this year barred AP reporters and photographers from the Oval Office and other White House venues because their Stylebook did not recognize the president\u2019s change of the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn May, Trump called for a \u201cmajor investigation\u201d of Bruce Springsteen, alleging that Kamala Harris paid for his endorsement during her 2024 campaign. Her campaign has denied that claim.
