In the book, she said her \u201cheart goes out\u201d to Jamie Lynn<\/a> for growing up in her shadow and for being a child of divorce.<\/p>\n In 2023, Spears and her mother spent the star\u2019s birthday together<\/a>. At the time, a source told PEOPLE that Spears was \u201cstill hurt, because she feels like her mom could have done more to help her,\u201d but Lynne was \u201creally making an effort to be in Britney\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Spears has repeatedly spoken about the court-ordered conservatorship overseen by her father and a lawyer. The conservatorship began in 2008, and in June 2021, Britney spoke for the first time<\/a> it as she challenged it in court. “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy,” she said, adding, “I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. Rosengart, had objected to her paying any of her father’s legal fees<\/a>. Jamie was accused of paying himself over $6 million throughout the conservatorship, surveilling his daughter and committing financial misconduct while he was a conservator, in court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
