Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds was feeling depleted when he turned to a childhood joy: video games. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was having creative burnout,\u201d he told a crowd at the Silicon Slopes Summit<\/a> in downtown Salt Lake City. \u201cI was between record cycles.\u201d <\/p>\n Reynolds joined his brother Mac on Wednesday to discuss Night Street Games<\/a>, the duo\u2019s indie video game studio. The brothers spoke about how they came up with \u201cLast Flag,\u201d<\/a> an upcoming five-on-five, third-person shooter game that will be released for PC in April. <\/p>\n The game \u2014 the studio\u2019s first \u2014 was inspired by Dan\u2019s childhood rounds of capture the flag at Boy Scouts.<\/p>\n The brothers showed early renditions of the game\u2019s animation to the crowd and recounted memories of building its soundtrack and sound effects. To portray the sound of zombie limbs breaking, for example, the Imagine Dragons singer chewed cucumbers in front of a microphone.<\/p>\n \u201cMy pitch to Mac was I wanted it to be a Tarantino-made video game, set in the \u201870s, kind of gory, and really over the top,\u201d Dan Reynolds said. <\/p>\n The brothers founded Night Street Games in 2020.<\/p>\n Mac Reynolds, the studio\u2019s CEO, said this journey has led the brothers outside their comfort zones.
