There was some initial hope that the injury wouldn\u2019t be too bad, but head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed the unfortunate news in Friday\u2019s press conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1teeyfa8 ls9zuh1\">\u201cJamie, he\u2019s looking a little bit more long-term. It\u2019s a real shame for him. He\u2019s got a tear in his hamstring, which is a real shame for him. I have not worked with him for too long. Obviously, I know about his career and what an outstanding player he is. Yeah, so that\u2019s going to be a big miss for us. [\u2026] It\u2019s too early to say [how long he will be out].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1teeyfa8 ls9zuh1\">-Liam Rosenior; source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football.london\/chelsea-fc\/news\/every-word-liam-rosenior-said-33367710\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Football.London<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Gittens does not have a history of hamstring injuries \u2014 he missed a good chunk of 2021-22 with torn ankle ligaments and dealt with a shoulder problem for much of 2022-23, but nothing major since \u2014 so hopefully he can avoid any lingering problems from it. It\u2019s unclear if he\u2019ll need surgery at this point, though if it\u2019s that bad, it\u2019s probably best to make sure it heals as best as possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The 21-year-old has made 27 appearances for Chelsea, but mostly off the bench.
