\n\tHBO<\/a> is developing a TV adaptation of Hasbro\u2019s fantasy role-playing video game series \u201cBaldur\u2019s Gate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCraig Mazin<\/a>, the co-creator and showrunner of HBO\u2019s hit video game adaptation \u201cThe Last of Us,\u201d will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Mazin is also the created of HBO\u2019s 2019 limited series \u201cChernobyl.\u201d Mazin also executive produces alongside Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O\u2019Connor and Hasbro Entertainment\u2019s head of television Gabriel Marano.<\/p>\n

\n\tPart of the \u201cDungeons & Dragons\u201d franchise, the first \u201cBaldur\u2019s Gate\u201d game was released in 1998. Most recently, \u201cBaldur\u2019s Gate 3\u201d debuted in 2023 and achieved significant critical and commercial success, becoming the first-ever title to win all five major Game of the Year awards and crossing 15 million players. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter putting nearly 1000 hours into the incredible world of \u2018Baldur\u2019s Gate 3,\u2019 it is a dream come true to be able to continue the story that Larian and Wizards of The Coast created,\u201d Mazin said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cI am a devoted fan of \u2018D&D\u2019 and the brilliant way that Swen Vincke and his gifted team adapted it.\u00a0\u00a0I can\u2019t wait to help bring \u2018Baldur\u2019s Gate\u2019 and all of its incredible characters to life with as much respect and love as we can, and I\u2019m deeply grateful to Gabe Marano and his team at Hasbro for entrusting me with this incredibly important property.\u201d<\/p>\n
