Donald Trump labeled U.S. elections a \u201cLaughingstock all over the World\u201d in a Truth Social meltdown where the president demanded Republicans \u201cfight\u201d on three key subjects.<\/p>\n

The president, 79, made a partial all-caps rant on Truth Social<\/a> on Thursday, ahead of a posting spree that included the president amplifying right-wing posts<\/a> surrounding the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica\u2019s Elections are Rigged, Stolen, and a Laughingstock all over the World,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are either going to fix them, or we won\u2019t have a Country any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then spelled out his three-part \u201cSAVE AMERICA ACT,\u201d which included showing voter ID, displaying proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and terminating any mail-in ballots, unless in the case of illness, disability, military or if someone is traveling.<\/p>\n

The Daily Beast has contacted the White House for comment.<\/p>\n

Last April, the House passed a version of the SAVE<\/a> (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act, which required voters to show identification before registering to vote. It failed to advance in the Senate and received public backlash.<\/p>\n

Politico reported<\/a> on Thursday that Trump will meet with Republicans, including Ron Johnson, Mike Lee and Rick Scott, to plan the next steps for the SAVE Act.<\/p>\n

Research by the Brennan Center for Justice<\/a> found that 21 million Americans cannot access identification documents readily, and that half the population do not have a passport, while millions do not have a paper copy of their birth certificate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SAVE Act would disenfranchise Americans of all ages and races, but younger voters and voters of color would suffer disproportionately,\u201d the Center said. <\/p>\n

\u201cLikewise, millions of women whose married names aren\u2019t on their birth certificates or passports would face extra steps just to make their voices heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

It warned the bills are part of a broader federal agenda to sow distrust in our elections, undermine election administration, and discourage Americans from making their voices heard. \u201cThe SAVE Act, in any form, would block millions of American citizens from voting,\u201d the Center stated.<\/p>\n

The president has already flagged this week<\/a> he thinks Republicans should \u201ctake over the voting in at least 15 states.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was speaking on the return episode of the podcast hosted by former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino. <\/p>\n

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attempted to explain<\/a> Trump\u2019s comment, saying he was referring to the SAVE Act and voter registration, but wound up causing more confusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president believes in the United States Constitution,\u201d Leavitt said, then continued, \u201cHowever, he believes there has obviously been a lot of fraud and irregularities that have taken place in American elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd again, voter ID is a highly popular and commonsense policy that the president wants to pursue,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Leavitt\u2019s use of the word \u201chowever\u201d blew up online, with Trump committing to \u201cpreserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States\u201d at his inauguration last year.<\/p>\n

Massachusetts Democratic Rep Jim McGovern was quick to highlight Leavitt\u2019s language on his X account<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking on NBC Nightly News this week, Trump claimed there were \u201careas in our country\u201d that were \u201cextremely corrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have very corrupt elections. Take a look at Detroit. Take a look at Philadelphia. Take a look at Atlanta. There are some areas that are unbelievably corrupt,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say that we cannot have corrupt elections if we have to, if they don\u2019t straighten out. As an example, voter ID, why don\u2019t the Democrats want voter ID? You know who does want voter ID? Democrat voters want it, but Democrat politicians don\u2019t. Why don\u2019t they want it?
