On Thursday, Feb. 5, remaining members Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda announced in an Instagram post<\/a> that the band would be canceling all of its scheduled shows “with regrets,” including those beginning April 25 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and continuing through the summer.<\/p>\n “Due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister’s lead singer Dee Snider brought on by a series of health challenges, the band has been forced to cancel all shows scheduled,” the announcement read, adding that further updates would be coming shortly. “…The future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks.”<\/p>\n In a separate announcement, Snider, 70, shared that he had been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis<\/a> and had undergone several surgeries for the condition “just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain.”<\/p>\n Elyse Jankowski\/Getty<\/p>\n “A lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider’s body and soul,” the statement read. “Adding insult to injury, Dee has recently found out the level of intensity he has dedicated to his life’s work has taken its toll on his heart as well. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self,” he said.<\/p>\n “In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, ‘A man’s got to know his limitations.’ Sadly, Dee Snider now knows his,” the statement concluded.<\/p>\n A number of figures took to Instagram comments to share their well-wishes with the “We’re Not Gonna Take It” rocker.<\/p>\n “We love you dude, thank you for a lifetime of inspiration to us all,” Sebastian Bach wrote underneath Snider’s post. “You left it all on the stage. The price we gotta pay for all the games we gotta play. Love you brother.”<\/p>\n Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath<\/a> also chimed in, writing: “Love and respect my brother! Thank you for showing us all how to entertain\u2026\ud83e\udd19\ud83d\udc9a.”<\/p>\n “Stay healthy dad, we love you \u2764\ufe0f,” wrote Snider’s son and filmmaker Cody Blue (Snider and his wife Suzette<\/a> share four children: Cheyenne, Jesse, Shane and Cody).<\/p>\n Twisted Sister last performed in 2023 for their induction into the Metal Hall of Fame.
