After nearly six years together, Halle Berry<\/a> and Van Hunt are engaged. Berry revealed the news on Thursday in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show<\/a>, where she cleared up some \u201cconfusion\u201d about their relationship status. \u201cThere\u2019s some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said \u2018no,\u2019\u201d Berry said. \u201cBut that\u2019s not the case?\u201d Fallon asked. \u201cNo, that\u2019s not the case. I did not say \u2018no,\u2019 we just don\u2019t have a date \u2014 but of course I said \u2018yes,\u2019 I would marry him!\u201d Berry then showed off a sparkly new addition to her finger, saying Hunt \u201cdid put a little ring on it.\u201d<\/p>\n The confusion Berry mentioned was likely a reference to an interview the couple did in June, during which Hunt told the Today<\/a> show he\u2019d already popped the question. \u201cSo I put out the proposal, and it\u2019s still on hold as you can see,\u201d Hunt said at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.\u201d Berry explained during the interview that the holdup mostly had to do with both of them having been married already: \u201cWell, I\u2019ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so, no, we don\u2019t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, Berry said she did think marriage was in their future. \u201cI think we will get married just because, out of the people I\u2019ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I feel like I should, we should, get married, but it\u2019s not because we feel like we have to. I think it\u2019s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.\u201d<\/p>\n Berry has said she and Hunt, a Grammy-winning musician, were introduced through Hunt\u2019s brother in 2020. Their relationship began in the early days of the pandemic, and they spent months talking on the phone before meeting in person.
