It\u2019s no secret that Denver\u2019s dating scene<\/a> is\u2026tricky. Whether because of the Mile High City\u2019s transient nature, the hype of the \u201cColorado casual\u201d persona, or the lack of third spaces in which to meet people organically (dating apps suck!), it\u2019s rough out here. Just look at some of the stories submitted by Westword readers for our Dateless in Denver<\/a> series or consider that last fall\u2019s season of Love Is Blind, which was based in Denver, ended as the show\u2019s least successful season<\/a>, with no couples getting married for the first time ever.<\/p>\n Even those who do cop a relationship have their own struggles, and cheating might be a big one in Colorado.<\/p>\n Ahead of Valentine\u2019s Day<\/a>, Jet IT Services<\/a> conducted a study to determine which states are searching for ways to cheat, and Colorado landed on top, with 424 average monthly Google searches per 100,000 citizens for the discreet dating app Ashley Madison<\/a>.<\/p>\n The study found that not only did Colorado residents search for the app at a rate almost 50 percent higher than the U.S. average, but that Ashley Madison is the second-most popular dating app among Coloradans.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a dating app that caters to extramarital affairs and casual relationships. But to be fair, some polyamorous<\/a> people use it, too, so a small percentage of the people making those searches may have disclosed and agreed upon it with their partner.<\/p>\n Colorado\u2019s searches for the app were followed by North Dakota (362 monthly searches per 100,000 residents) and New Hampshire (357 searches per 100,000 residents). Mississippi ranked as the most faithful state, with just 142 average monthly searches for the app per 100,000 citizens.<\/p>\n While the statistics are gloomy, don\u2019t let them dash your hopes for a relationship. Plenty of loving relationships have formed in Colorado, and every single couple that Westword interviewed at last year\u2019s Denver Clerk and Recorder Valentine\u2019s Day Marriage Marathon<\/a> met in Denver.<\/p>\n
