The cheapest seat available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tickpick.com\/nfl\/super-bowl-tickets\/?_gl=1*rqxgj9*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzqT-zIzDkgMVnTcIBR2mixTiEAAYASAAEgKip_D_BwE&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAC8Uiu4LYTpJ4nYwnKeFY5ZR88CXi\\\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TickPick<\/a>, a secondary reseller, as of Friday afternoon was over $3,800, with the average ticket costing more than $6,200\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlb7r7wz00063b6p9eiw1uqj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Today the Super Bowl is the ultimate showcase of exclusivity \u2013 and you can expect it to stay that way. Two tickets to the first Super Bowl in 1967 would have cost a couple of tanks of gasoline today, or about $118.20 in inflation-adjusted dollars. Now, it\u2019s comparable to trading in a 2019 Subaru Outback, according to an analysis by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edmunds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Edmunds<\/a>.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlb9yfcr00003b6pqx2ydrrz@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            For the regular fan, the Super Bowl can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that\u2019s less about the game and more about the experience.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba0diw00023b6p5d9v37dy@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cFor lots of folks, it doesn\u2019t matter who\u2019s in the game because the Super Bowl is not just a sports phenomenon; it\u2019s a cultural phenomenon,\u201d said Victor Matheson, a sports economist at College of the Holy Cross.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba0npu00053b6pgdbu4l0f@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            And with stadiums reaching their seating capacity limits, the first thing to give is the price.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba0t5b00083b6psmnfany5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThe number of actual seats the NFL can sell for a Super Bowl has basically stayed the same, which puts massive pressure on (the price),\u201d Matheson said. \u201cStadiums simply can\u2019t get any bigger.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba11yo000b3b6poyewytlm@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Tickets are hard to come by not just from the extraordinary demand but also because of how they\u2019re distributed. The NFL has the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njcourts.gov\/system\/files\/court-opinions\/2019\/a_38_17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">legal<\/a> authority to control where every single Super Bowl ticket goes. At Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, 99% of the tickets were already allocated before being offered to the public.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba1c9v000e3b6ph2xlryec@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Of those predetermined tickets, the NFL allotted 35% to the two teams that played in the Super Bowl to share and 5% to the team hosting the event. The other 29 NFL teams received a combined 35%, and the final 25% went to NFL-connected individuals and entities including corporations, broadcast networks, media outlets, sponsors and the Super Bowl host committee.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba1g3j000h3b6ph6mq8vm4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Players and team staff get first access to buy tickets; then many NFL teams give a share to their sponsors as a reward. These remaining tickets are generally distributed through highly competitive NFL-sponsored lotteries, which can require being a season ticket holder to even enter.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba24zb000n3b6p91bolyjc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Fans lucky enough to win those lotteries sometimes then resell their tickets for multiples of the original price.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlbcj5vz000a356pywma55va@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            CNN has reached out to the NFL for comment.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba2asd000t3b6pvc7plxh6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Ticket scarcity pushes many buyers into the pricey secondary market, resulting in Super Bowl crowds wealthier than average Americans.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba2fc8000w3b6pf8k3kum1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            An <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.opportunitylouisiana.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ebpr-economic-impact-2025-super-bowl-la-economy-df-page-view1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">economic impact report<\/a> from Louisiana State University after last year\u2019s Super Bowl in New Orleans confirmed that nearly one in four attendees reported household incomes above $500,000, and the majority earned between $200,000 and $500,000.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlbfjfeo000e3b6p6oh0hbt0@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            For comparison, less than 10% reported household incomes at or below the 2024 US median of $83,730.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba32hz00153b6ppn2a5l0t@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Prices could always drop ahead of kickoff, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/seatgeek.com\/super-bowl-ticket-tracker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SeatGeek.<\/a> Any discounts that show up are usually snatched up quickly.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmlba3ar800183b6pgc382n32@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            But the rising ticket prices underscore that wealthier buyers are willing to shell out more and more to guarantee a seat.
