Ticket sales for Sunday\u2019s Brickyard 400 were \u201cdown a couple thousand\u201d from\u202fNASCAR\u2019s event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway\u202fthe year prior, according to Nathan Brown of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. According to an IMS spokesperson, an \u201capproximation from just over\u201d 70,000 in 2024 to \u201cjust under\u201d 70,000 fans attended Sunday. Moments after Sunday\u2019s race, IMS & IndyCar President Doug Boles\u202festimated that IMS would \u201cend up down\u201d 5,000 to 6,000 tickets from 2024 and \u201cland around\u201d 65,000, but he had \u201cyet to see the walk-up numbers, which weren\u2019t expected to be spectacular, given the intense heat index, coupled with the\u202flingering weather concerns.\u201d The dip, though, comes after the \u201cmonumental return\u201d to the oval for NASCAR<\/a> in 2024 after three years away while \u201csimultaneously celebrating\u201d the Brickyard 400\u2019s 30th anniversary of its first running — a \u201cpair of milestones\u201d that were believed to have \u201cnotably helped the track achieve year-over-year growth<\/a>\u201d for race day for the first time since 2002. Last year\u2019s race topped 2018\u2019s Brickyard 400 attendance numbers, too, and \u201capproached — but didn\u2019t nearly reach\u201d — 2017 and 2016.
