Niecy Nash-Betts rushed to \u201ccheck in\u201d on her co-stars\u2014including Kim Kardashian\u2014after their series All\u2019s Fair got torn to shreds by critics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe critics hated the show. I mean, that\u2019s really the bottom line. And anything that they could pick apart, they did,\u201d the Emmy-winning actress told Obsessed: The Podcast<\/a> host Matt Wilstein. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did not enjoy our show, but the fans spoke very loudly. Kept us number one from the time we premiered to the time the season finale happened,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Rarely has there ever been such a disparate reaction between critics and a show\u2019s audience\u2014Melania accepted. <\/p>\n

While the legal drama has just a 6% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it remained one of Hulu\u2019s top 15 most-viewed shows throughout its entire season one run. At launch, its first episode was the streamer\u2019s biggest scripted series debut in three years, earning 3.2 million viewers in its first three days. <\/p>\n

Despite its impressive viewership, critics were less than impressed. Fellow Obsessed: The Podcast host Kevin Fallon said<\/a> there is a \u201clevel of badness to the show that is so astonishing that it feels almost invigorating to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Much of the hate was directed towards Kardashian, whose celebrity overshadowed fellow cast members like Emmy winners Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, and Naomi Watts. <\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I called Kim,\u201d Nash-Betts said. \u201cI called all the ladies. \u2018I just want to check on you and make sure you\u2019re well.\u2019 I still do that now, not just because people hated us, but that\u2019s just in my DNA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite its critical drubbing, All\u2019s Fair was picked up for a second season<\/a>, which will begin filming soon. <\/p>\n

The show is Nash-Betts\u2019s second collaboration with showrunner Ryah Murphy. The first, Dahmer<\/a>, earned the actress her first Emmy Award in 2022. In her acceptance speech, the actress checked in on herself. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say to myself in front of all you beautiful people, \u2018Go on, girl, with your bad self. You did that!\u201d the actress exclaimed from the stage. <\/p>\n

Nash-Betts credits this self-belief for propelling her career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the moment that I believed I could, that was all I needed,\u201d she said on the podcast. \u201cAnd so when other people didn\u2019t see it for me, I would feel sorry for them, genuinely, because I felt like I know this is my path.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love to do something I\u2019ve never done before,\u201d the Reno 911! star added. \u201cI stay hungry.\u201d<\/p>\n

To check another item off her career bucket list, Nash-Betts now stars in the Audible Original series Big Age<\/a>, alongside Cedric the Entertainer and Jenifer Lewis. <\/p>\n

Her favorite part of the audio-only show? No hair and makeup required. \u201cThis is the best,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is the job where you can come to work in your pajamas.\u201d<\/p>\n
