The younger Hutson, a Washington Capitals prospect, is playing his sophomore season at the school and is BU\u2019s leading scorer with 25 points (8g, 17a) in 27 games.<\/p>\n<p>The Terriers played the Maine Black Bears in Hockey East conference action, and Lane donned his younger brother\u2019s number 44 jersey for the occasion. The elder Hutson also waved a giant BU flag during the Terriers\u2019 3-2 overtime win.<\/p>\n<p>Lane, 21, was able to attend the game as the NHL has paused play for the 2026 Winter Olympics. At the break, the Canadiens are second in the Atlantic Division with a 32-17-8 record, and Hutson has recorded 58 points (10g, 48a) in 57 games.<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 Calder Trophy winner may have been returning a favor on Friday after Cole, <a href=\"https:\/\/russianmachineneverbreaks.com\/2025\/04\/27\/cole-hutson-attends-capitals-canadiens-game-3-habs-sweater-meets-spencer-carbery\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wearing a Habs sweater<\/a>, attended Game 3 of last year\u2019s playoff series between the Capitals and Canadiens.<\/p>\n<p>In front of his older brother, Cole, 19, provided the primary assist on Jack Murtagh\u2019s goal early in the second period. The 2024 second-round pick finished the game with the assist, five shots on goal, and three blocked shots.<\/p>\n<p>The younger Hutson has played in 10 games for the Terriers since returning from the 2026 World Juniors with Team USA. At the tournament, Hutson suffered a scary head injury that saw him stretchered off the ice and play in just three games for the Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Since returning to college, Hutson\u2019s production has slowed, as he\u2019s posted just five points (1g, 4a) in those 10 games. However, he now has points in back-to-back games for the first time since early December and fired five-plus shots on goal in both games, something he had not done in his prior eight outings.<\/p>\n<p>The Terriers will be back in action on February 9, vying for the 2026 Beanpot championship against their bitter rivals, the Boston College Eagles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Boston University had a star return to its campus on Friday night.
