Momentum could be building on a popular Boston Red Sox trade target changing teams before the 2025 MLB season.<\/p>\n
The Athletic\u2019s Chandler Rome said on the \u201cCrush City Territory\u201d podcast that talks have \u201cintensified\u201d<\/a> around the Houston Astros trading Isaac Paredes. Rome identified the Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates as two teams that have shown \u201clegitimate and aggressive interest\u201d in the All-Star third baseman, but as many as five clubs could be pursuing him.<\/p>\n Rome said he\u2019d be \u201cstunned\u201d if the Astros don\u2019t move an infielder<\/a> on their active roster before spring training. Paredes and first baseman Christian Walker have surfaced as the most likely trade candidates, but the younger and less expensive Paredes is a more valuable option.<\/p>\n The Astros reporter believes the Red Sox make \u201cso much sense\u201d for a Paredes trade because they can afford to deal a major leaguer. However, Rome said Boston isn\u2019t looking to trade outfielder Wilyer Abreu.<\/p>\n Boston has been linked to Paredes ever since Alex Bregman signed with Paredes\u2019 former team, the Chicago Cubs.
