A Vikings reunion could be in the cards for Kirk Cousins.<\/p>\n

With Cousins reportedly expected to cut ties with the Falcons, The Athletic\u2019s Dianna Russini reported<\/a> Saturday that sources believe that the quarterback \u201ccould be an option\u201d for Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Russini also noted Cousins\u2019 history with head coach Kevin O\u2019Connell and the team potentially wanting to bring in some competition for quarterback J.J. McCarthy.<\/p>\n

Before signing with Atlanta in 2024, Cousins spent six seasons with the Vikings, racking up 23,265 passing yards with 171 touchdowns while earning himself three trips to the Pro Bowl (2019, 2021 and 2022) during his tenure.<\/p>\n

Cousins, 37, also helped the Vikings reach the playoffs twice (2018, 2022) before his departure following an injury-riddled 2023.<\/p>\n

After inking a massive four-year deal worth $180 million with the Falcons, Cousins lost his starting job to then-rookie Michael Penix Jr. at the end of the 2024 campaign.<\/p>\n

Despite beginning 2025 as the Falcons\u2019 backup QB, Cousins found himself on the gridiron after Penix tore his ACL<\/a> during Atlanta\u2019s 30-27 Week 11 loss to the Panthers.<\/p>\n

In 10 games this past season, Cousins threw for 1,721 yards on a 61.7 completion percentage with 10 touchdowns to five interceptions.<\/p>\n

In January, the Falcons reworked Cousins\u2019 contract to set up the veteran QB\u2019s exit, and the team is now expected to cut him in March ahead of the start of the new league year, ESPN reported Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recently hired Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski<\/a>, who previously coached Cousins while on Minnesota\u2019s staff, was mum when asked about his future in Atlanta.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, I have a previous relationship with Kirk, but I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s the time yet to talk about all those types of things,\u201d Stefanski said in January, per The Athletic<\/a>. <\/p>\n
