The Member of <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a> for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo<\/a>, has stated that the New Patriotic Party is unsettled by the government\u2019s 24-Hour Economy policy.<\/p>\n

Speaking recently in <\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a>, Adongo clarified that the initiative is not confined to agriculture or industry.<\/p>\n

He emphasised the need for effective coordination among government agencies to create an enabling environment for its successful implementation. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou are beginning to shiver because somehow you thought the 24-hour economy was going to be like \u2018Ghana Beyond Aid,\u2019 Free SHS, \u2018One District, One Factory\u2019, or digitalization\u2014initiatives that never had clear policies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Adongo stressed that the initiative is backed by mechanisms to ensure plans are well thought out, funded, and implemented effectively. <\/p>\n

He also criticised the NPP for failing to read the memorandum accompanying the bill, which clearly outlines the government\u2019s intentions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are implementing a policy backed by a coordinating mechanism that will ensure that whatever we want to do is well thought out and implemented and funded. And that is where NPP will remain in opposition for the next 30 years because of the 24-hour economy. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf people had read the memorandum that came with the bill, they would have been clear what cabinet and the government of Ghana wants to do, and it is not our fault that you don’t read. The fact that you don’t read is not our fault,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>Parliament<\/a> has approved the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, creating the 24-Hour Economy Authority to accelerate Ghana\u2019s economic transformation. <\/p>\n

The bill establishes the legal and regulatory framework for formalising the 24-hour economy, enabling the Authority to implement the government\u2019s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, aimed at increasing productivity and fostering inclusive growth.<\/p>\n
