Google started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/youtube-music-test-lyrics-paywall-subscription\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">testing<\/a> lyrics as an exclusive feature for Premium users in September, but it appears that it\u2019s now <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2026\/02\/07\/youtube-music-lyrics-premium\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">receiving<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/youtube-music-lyrics-free-premium-paywall\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wider rollout<\/a>. It seems that free users will be limited to viewing lyrics for five songs per month, though we\u2019ve reached out to Google for confirmation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Once that limit is reached, users will only be able to see the first couple of lines. Everything beyond that will be blurred out, and they\u2019ll be prompted to \u201cUnlock lyrics with Premium.\u201d The banner warning users about their limited lyric views remaining appears prominently when you open the tab, complete with a countdown.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Free YouTube Music accounts are now seeing their access to lyrics limited, according to multiple reports.
