Some animals hate the snow<\/a> and try to escape back into their warm houses at the first sight of flakes. But others take to the winter wonderland and enjoy a cold-weather frolic. Little Lady Bird the baby elephant got her moment after discovering her first big snow in Texas at the Fort Worth Zoo.<\/p>\n

You can literally see the smile on this girl’s face as she climbs a small snowbank. The caption gives us the story, “As temps rose above freezing yesterday, some of our animals stepped out to explore the snow. Lady Bird found her own snowy mound and looked to be having a blast!”<\/p>\n

There might not be anything better than a little elephant<\/a> enjoying her first snow, at least according to the comments. “Baby elephants are the cutest,” @deb chimed in. Others pointed out how special this girl is with @MindofAnnoyance remarking, “I know a superstar when I see one,” and @LoLo Smith adding, “She knows she\u2019s the main character.” You can’t really argue with that.<\/p>\n

Many focused in on her intrepid climb with @Sugarbutter proclaiming, “She’s queen of the hill!” We certainly recognize Lady Bird as our Queen. Finally, top comment from @Walker gave the best take. They posted a delightful pic of a mammoth in snow accompanied by, “How she felt.” She’s definitely tapping into her ancient side.<\/p>\n

Do elephants like snow?<\/p>\n

These big beasties<\/a> have one giant thing going for them: Their large size<\/a> actually helps maintain their inner temperature. In fact, very warm days might pose more of a threat to these guys. However, the elephant area of the zoo<\/a> includes indoor and outdoor spaces as well as climate control to make any day comfortable, regardless of temperature.<\/p>\n

When it comes to snow, you shouldn’t be surprised to see Lady Bird playing with her brand new discovery. Elephants are playful<\/a> and curious creatures, making the snow an exciting spectacle to check out. We hope Lady Bird gets a few more snowfalls in before the end of the year for her to enjoy.<\/p>\n
