(Image from Shutterstock)<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers who worry about artificial intelligence and its potential pitfalls are pointing to another problem\u2014its increasing use by their clients.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Jochnowitz, a partner at Outten &amp; Golden, likened the unfolding situation to people\u2019s reliance on the internet for medical advice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/02\/09\/ai-chatgpt-lawyer-legal-help\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Axios<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like the WebMD effect on steroids,\u201d he told the news website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChatGPT is telling them, \u2018You got a killer case,\u2019\u201d Jochnowitz also said.<\/p>\n<p>But lawyers told Axios that large language models such as ChatGPT often don\u2019t understand the full history of cases or the laws that apply to them.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to potentially providing clients with bad legal advice, AI could impact the billable hour, lawyers also told Axios.
