Architecture firm OfficeUntitled<\/a> has unveiled fresh renderings for a recently-revived plan for a mixed-use high-rise development on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip.<\/a><\/p>\n

The project the Charles Company<\/a>, recently discussed as a virtual community meeting, is slated for a site at 9034 Sunset Boulevard. Plans call for the construction of a 24-story, approximately 378,000-square-foot development featuring 198 residential units, 9,250 square feet of offices, 1,800 square feet of restaurant space, 2,840 square feet of retail space, and subterranean parking for 181 vehicles.<\/p>\n

A project description indicates that 35 of the apartments would be restricted affordable units, potentially making the project eligible for density bonus incentives.<\/p>\n

“The Sunset Tower design was inspired by the character of Sunset Boulevard and a history of rock and roll and creative expression,” reads a narrative from the OfficeUntitled website<\/a>. “With an undulating fa\u00e7ade that opens to the city, the tower reflects the dynamic nature of West Hollywood. Programmed around the city\u2019s metropolitan activity, the mixed-use project builds upon the spirit of surrounding staples like the Roxy Theatre and the Shamrock Social Club.”<\/p>\n

The design tower is intended to have a different look from other vantage points along the Sunset Strip, according to the narrative.<\/p>\n

Though larger than the low-slung commercial buildings that it would replace, the proposed apartment building would not look out of place along this segment of the Sunset Strip. A 13-story condo and hotel complex was completed on a neighboring site to the west in 2019<\/a>, one of several such projects built along the Strip in the past decade.<\/p>\n
