{"id":459078,"date":"2026-02-10T00:03:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T00:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/459078\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T00:03:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T00:03:10","slug":"white-house-adviser-hassett-expects-smaller-jobs-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/459078\/","title":{"rendered":"White House adviser Hassett expects smaller jobs numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">WASHINGTON, Feb 9 (Reuters) &#8211; White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said on Monday that \u200bAmericans could see smaller job growth \u200cnumbers in the coming months due to lower population figures \u200cand higher productivity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The combination of strong GDP growth and a pretty big decline in the labor force &#8220;because of illegals leaving the country&#8221; could \u2060lead to lower \u200cjob numbers, Hassett, director of the National Economic Council, said in an \u200dinterview with CNBC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;So I think that you should expect slightly smaller job numbers that are consistent with high \u200bGDP growth right now,&#8221; Hassett said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;And that \u200cone shouldn&#8217;t panic if you see a sequence of numbers that are lower than you&#8217;re used to, because, again, population growth is going down and productivity growth is skyrocketing. It&#8217;s an \u2060unusual set of circumstances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The \u200bLabor Department is scheduled to \u200breport the delayed employment report for January on Wednesday. Nonfarm payrolls likely increased by \u200d70,000 jobs \u2060last month, a Reuters survey of economists showed, after rising 50,000 in December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The U.S. \u2060unemployment rate was 4.4% in December.
