\u201cShe said, \u2018It\u2019s hard to know what to say,\u2019\u201d Maher said on his Friday night HBO show, the New York Post reported. \u201cWhich I wouldn\u2019t say. Then don\u2019t say anything \u2014 because you don\u2019t know things. So you didn\u2019t go to school, I don\u2019t think. And you don\u2019t know facts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old singer Eilish was homeschooled by her parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the practical next step if you say there is no such thing as illegal people on stolen land?\u201d Maher asked. \u201cDo we just go back to living in teepees?\u201d <\/p>\n

Grammys get political<\/p>\n

Eilish was one of a few stars who used the Grammy Awards show as a platform to criticize U.S. President Donald Trump and Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE).<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter, and the people matter,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd f\u2014 ICE, that\u2019s all I\u2019m gonna say, sorry,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Eilish\u2019s house on historic native land<\/p>\n

The Tongva tribe, the Indigenous inhabitants of the Los Angeles Basin known as the \u201cFirst Angelenos,\u201d had a message of their own<\/a> for Eilish \u2014 whose multimillion-dollar mansion sits on their \u201cancestral land.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tribe revealed that the Birds of a Feather singer should \u201cexplicitly\u201d reference them when speaking about \u201cstolen land.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property. We do value the instance when public figures provide visibility to the true history of this country,\u201d a Tongva spokesperson told the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maher: Angelenos not going anywhere<\/p>\n

Maher compared Eilish\u2019s remarks to the hateful antisemitic chant \u201cFrom the river to the sea,\u201d which is often heard at anti-Israel \u201cFree Palestine\u201d protests.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Los Angeles will not move, and neither will all Israelis from Gaza,\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n

Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo stuck up for Eilish<\/a>, taking on Shark Tank star Kevin O\u2019Leary after the Canadian investor told Eilish<\/a> to \u201cshut your mouth and just entertain,\u201d following her comments at the Grammys.<\/p>\n
