It\u2019s been seven long years since we\u2019ve seen Cliff Booth, Brad Pitt\u2019s World War II veteran turned stuntman in Quentin Tarantino\u2019s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood<\/a>. Do you miss his groovy trailer, or his pit bull, Brandy<\/a>? How about the way he repairs a TV antenna on the roof<\/a>, shirtless while smoking a cigarette? Well, we have good news for you: Booth is getting a film of his own. The Adventures of Cliff Booth, one of our most anticipated movies of the year<\/a>, is coming to Netflix. Here\u2019s everything we know about the sequel.<\/p>\n

Brad Pitt will reprise his role, with David Fincher directing<\/p>\n

In April 2025, it was announced<\/a> that Pitt will return as Booth. And while Tarantino wrote the script, he isn\u2019t returning as director. Instead, David Fincher will be at the helm, who previously worked with Pitt on 1995\u2019s Seven, 1999\u2019s Fight Club<\/a>, and 2008\u2019s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.<\/p>\n

Tarantino says the project \u2018unenthused\u2019 him<\/p>\n

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Tarantino\u2019s ninth film, and he always said his 10th would be his last. The finale was originally supposed to be The Movie Critic \u2014 about a Seventies film critic who wrote for a porn magazine \u2014 but he scrapped it <\/a>in April 2024. This is reportedly<\/a> how Cliff Booth was born. \u201cI love this script, but I\u2019m still walking down the same ground I\u2019ve already walked,\u201d Tarantino said <\/a>on the Church of Tarantino podcast in August 2025. \u201cIt just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I\u2019ve got to not know what I\u2019m doing again. I\u2019ve got to be in uncharted territory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think me and David Fincher are the two best directors,\u201d he added. \u201cSo the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work, to me, shows a level of seriousness towards my work that I think needs to be taken into account.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pitt has said it\u2019s more of an \u201cepisode\u201d than a sequel<\/p>\n

In June 2025, during the European premiere for F1<\/a>, Pitt described<\/a> the upcoming project. \u201cThis is something Quentin wrote as an episode,\u201d he said. \u201cNot really a sequel, but an episode of the character from Once Upon a Time. But he didn\u2019t want to direct it at this point. Our mutual friend, David Fincher, stepped in to direct it. We\u2019re gonna start in July, and it should be really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trailer arrived as a Super Bowl surprise<\/p>\n

Super Bowl LX featured a game<\/a> between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, a historic halftime show<\/a> from Bad Bunny, and, as always, a wide variety of commercials<\/a>. In between the madness, Netflix surprise-dropped the Cliff Booth trailer<\/a>, featuring our beloved stuntman. It opens with Elizabeth Debicki asking Booth about the events of Hollywood, when he and Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) helped \u201csubdued those hippie intruders.\u201d Booth tells her, \u201cI don\u2019t possess many talents. But I know better than getting in the way of a good story.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trailer also features Carla Gugino, Karren Karagulian, the fictional Big Kahuna Burger chain from the Tarantino-verse, and an advertisement for Looking for Mr. Goodbar (setting Cliff Booth in 1977). Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, and Peter Weller are also set to star, as well as Holt McCallany, who played FBI Special Agent Bill Tench in Fincher\u2019s Mindhunter<\/a>.<\/p>\n
