\n\tLogan Paul<\/a> publicly opposed his brother, Jake Paul<\/a>, on Super Bowl<\/a> Sunday after Jake encouraged his followers on X to turn off their televisions<\/a> during the Halftime Show in protest of Bad Bunny<\/a> being the performer. Logan, a social media influencer turned WWE star, championed Bad Bunny on X soon afterward. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI love my brother, but I don\u2019t agree with this,\u201d Logan wrote. \u201cPuerto Ricans are Americans & I\u2019m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly before the Super Bowl kicked off, influencer-turned-professional-boxer Jake Paul told his followers that \u201cpurposefully turning off the halftime show\u201d would \u201cshow big corporations they can\u2019t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime,\u201d Jake continued. \u201cA fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJake Paul lives in Puerto Rico. Amid backlash to his original statement, the boxer later clarified on X that he was not calling Bad Bunny a \u201cfake citizen\u201d because of his Puerto Rican roots but because of his decision to condemn ICE.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo clarify: I wasn\u2019t calling anyone a \u2018fake citizen\u2019 because they\u2019re from Puerto Rico,\u201d Jake wrote. \u201cI live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support Puerto Rico time and time again and will always do so. But if you\u2019re publicly criticizing ICE who are doing their job and openly hating on America, I\u2019m going to speak on it. Period\u2026 If you benefit from a country and the platform it gives you, but publicly disrespect it at the same time, that\u2019s what I mean by being a fake citizen. And I agree love is more powerful than hate. Love America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJake Paul further clarified amid ongoing backlash: \u201cGuys i love bad bunny idk what happened on my twitter last night ?? wtf\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez was one of the many people<\/a> to call out Jake Paul for his original post. She posted on X: \u201cA \u2018fake American citizen?\u2019 Didn\u2019t you MOVE to Puerto Rico to avoid paying your taxes while kids across America go hungry? Meanwhile Benito actually funds low income kids\u2019 access to arts and sports programs, while you defund them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBad Bunny spoke out against ICE<\/a> during the Grammys, where he won album of the year. In one of his two acceptance speeches during the telecast (he also won best m\u00fasica urbana album), Bad Bunny declared: \u201cICE out! We\u2019re not savage, we\u2019re not animals, we\u2019re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans\u2026 hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBad Bunny\u2019s Super Bowl Halftime Show is his only U.S. concert appearance set for this year, as his Deb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos World Tour is not stopping in the States. Bad Bunny previously told\u00a0I-D magazine<\/a>\u00a0that his fear of ICE raids was part of the reason why he skipped touring in the United States, saying that \u201cfucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it\u2019s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.\u201d<\/p>\n
