Bill Maher believes his friendship with Jimmy Kimmel is over for good. <\/p>\n
While interviewing Adam Carolla on Monday\u2019s episode of his \u201cClub Random\u201d podcast<\/a>, Maher revealed that he\u2019s had a falling out with Kimmel following comments he made about the latter\u2019s wife, Molly McNearney.<\/p>\n \u201cJimmy Kimmel, you know, he\u2019s very mad at me and I know you\u2019re close to him,\u201d Maher told Carolla, who co-hosted the Comedy Central series \u201cThe Man Show\u201d with Kimmel from 1999 to 2004. <\/p>\n Bill Maher revealed that Jimmy Kimmel is \u201cvery mad\u201d at him.<\/p>\n Maher believes Kimmel \u201cmay never talk\u201d to him again. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cI hope you tell him that I\u2019m sorry that it got bent out of shape,\u201d Maher, 70, continued. \u201cI don\u2019t think I did anything wrong. We can have disagreements. I mean, you and I don\u2019t agree on everything, look at this clash now, and yet we\u2019re cool.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cReal Time\u201d host noted that while Kimmel, a staunch liberal, is \u201cone of the nicest guys\u201d he knows, he gets frustrated with Kimmel\u2019s political takes.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the difference between the right and the left. It bugs me so much,\u201d Maher explained. \u201cMy tribe is supposed to be the left, but these are the people who just can\u2019t talk to you unless you\u2019re exactly there, whereas the Republicans, they always f\u2013ing come to my show.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher aired his grievances with Kimmel while interviewing Adam Carolla on his podcast. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t just buy into the left-wing bulls\u2013t,\u201d Maher went on, \u201cand I never stop making fun of the right-wing bulls\u2013t at all! And like, if that\u2019s not good enough for you, then I think you\u2019re the a\u2013hole, and I don\u2019t think Jimmy is an a\u2013hole.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher added that the \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d host \u201cis a great guy, and it bugs me that, you know, because of what the latest thing was, that, you know, we may never talk again.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou guys should be thick as thieves and on the same page,\u201d Carolla, 61, told Maher.<\/p>\n Page Six has reached out to Kimmel\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think I did anything wrong,\u201d Maher said about his drama with Kimmel.<\/p>\n Maher is worried he and Kimmel \u201cwill never talk\u201d again. ABC via Getty Images<\/p>\n In November, Maher called out Kimmel\u2019s wife for cutting ties with family members who voted for Donald Trump.<\/p>\n \u201cIt hurts me so much because of the personal relationship I now have where my husband is out there fighting this man,\u201d McNearney, 47, said when she joined Kimmel on the\u00a0\u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d\u00a0podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cTo me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd I, unfortunately, have kind of lost relationships with people in my family because of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Maher criticized Kimmel\u2019s wife, Molly McNearney in Nov. 2025 for cutting ties with pro-Trump family members. WireImage<\/p>\n \u201cTo me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family,\u201d McNearney said Getty Images<\/p>\n While reacting to McNearney\u2019s comments on his HBO talk show at the time, Maher said, \u201cShe says she\u2019s lost relationships with relatives because she wrote them an email before the election with ten reasons why they shouldn\u2019t vote for Trump, and some still didn\u2019t obey, so you know. Ultimatums. Ten reasons? I can think of 100.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut I would never present it to someone as an ultimatum,\u201d Maher continued. \u201cUltimatums don\u2019t make people rethink their politics. They make them rethink you.\u201d<\/p>\n Then, in December, Maher revealed on his \u201cClub Random\u201d podcast<\/a>\u00a0that Kimmel was upset with him for criticizing his wife.<\/p>\n Maher confirmed that Kimmel was mad at him for criticizing his wife. Getty Images<\/p>\n \u201cI was as kid-gloved as I could,\u201d Maher stated. \u201cAnd I see they\u2019re mad at me. Uh, I\u2019m sorry. I mean, I was being, again, as respectful as I could, but I don\u2019t agree with that point of view. And since she went public with it, it wasn\u2019t out of school for me to go public with it. I love Jimmy. I\u2019ve always have. I don\u2019t know him that well, but he\u2019s a great guy. I hope we\u2019re friends forever, but I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel is notoriously critical of Trump, 79, and Republicans on his late-night show.<\/p>\n In September, Kimmel was suspended by Disney<\/a> for comments he made about Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination. <\/a>He returned to the air several days later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bill Maher believes his friendship with Jimmy Kimmel is over for good.
