Now guitarist Jay Jay French has offered a bit more context on the decision.<\/p>\n<p>In a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jayjayfrench\/reel\/DUeTZ_HAR-v\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">video message<\/a> posted on Saturday, February 7th \u2014 exactly 50 years from Snider\u2019s first audition for the group \u2014 French explained that the band had \u201cno other choice\u201d but to accept the iconic singer\u2019s resignation, and the guitarist had nothing but praise for his longtime bandmate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is the actual 50th anniversary of the day that Dee auditioned in the band,\u201d French said. \u201c1976. Here\u2019s the diary entry. \u2018Danny Snider\u2019 \u2014 he wasn\u2019t Dee yet \u2014 \u2018auditions for Twisted Sister\u2019, February 7th, 1976.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>French continued (as transcribed by <a href=\"https:\/\/blabbermouth.net\/news\/jay-jay-french-twisted-sister-had-no-other-choice-but-to-cancel-50th-anniversary-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Blabbermouth<\/a>): \u201cFor the last 50 years, me and [guitarist] Eddie [Ojeda] have stood side by side with Dee, not with hundreds of shows, but with thousands of shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know the clich\u00e9 in sports, when a great sportsman retires, they say he left it on the field,\u201d Jay Jay continued. \u201cWell, I can tell you when it comes to Dee, he left it on the stage. He gave everything his all, and his body is now telling him, \u2018I can\u2019t give you anymore.\u2019 And when someone tells you that, you have to accept it and you have to move on. So please understand this was a tough decision, but we had no other choice but to cancel these dates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the future of the band, French said that he and Ojeda will \u201chave conversations in the next couple of weeks to discuss what, if any, options exist for us to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil then, just know that the SMFs [Twisted Sister fans] around the world are the thing that kept us alive and kept us going,\u201d French said, \u201cand we love you guys and we will do everything we can to always live up to your expectations as fans, \u2019cause nobody understands fandom more than us. We appreciate everything that you\u2019ve ever done for us and hopefully we\u2019ll see you again in the future. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snider announced his resignation last Thursday in a pair of statements, including one in his own words:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">\u201cI don\u2019t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me.
