\n\tMike Leigh<\/a> has lifted the lid \u2014\u00a0ever so slightly \u2014\u00a0on his typically secretive next feature. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile the project is still known as \u201cUntitled Mike Leigh 2025\u201d and, as per usual, there\u2019s not a whiff of a plot available, the lead cast has now been unveiled. And the iconoclast director has turned to a quartet of previous on-screen collaborators in Marion Bailey (\u201cMr.Turner\u201d), Paul Jesson (\u201cAll or Nothing\u201d), Kate O\u2019Flynn (\u201cHappy-Go-Lucky\u201d) and Alice Bailey Johnson (\u201cHard Truths<\/a>\u201c).<\/p>\n

\n\tThere\u2019s also the news that the film \u2014\u00a0his first since the multi-award-winning \u201cHard Truths\u201d \u2014\u00a0is set to wrap in London next week. <\/p>\n

\n\tBut in terms of extra information beyond what was already known, that\u2019s about it. <\/p>\n

\n\tFrequent collaborators behind the camera include costume designer Jacqueline Durran, hair and make-up designer Nora Robertson, production designer Jane Brodie, composer Gary Yershon, editor Tania Reddin, director of photography Lucy Bristow and casting director Nina Gold.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs with \u201cHard Truths,\u201d Bleecker Street<\/a> and StudioCanal<\/a> have boarded the project to distribute in the U.S. and U.K., respectively, while Cornerstone Films are handling international sales and continuing sales at the European Film Market.<\/p>\n

\n\tGeorgina Lowe of Leigh\u2019s Thin Man Films again produces, with Gail Egan is executive producer. Film4 co-finances in association with Desmar, Merino Films, Ventureland and Creativity Media.<\/p>\n

\n\tCornerstone has revealed some new territory deal, with sales in Switzerland (Frenetic), Benelux (Cherry Pickers), Greece (Spentzos), Middle East (Italia), Turkey (Mars), Australia and New Zealand (Transmission) and Ex-Yugoslavia (MCF).<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to the Cornerstone website, the film continue\u2019s Leigh\u2019s \u201cinsightful exploration of the contemporary world,\u201d which doesn\u2019t really offer much. But for many, a new project from the seven-time Oscar nominated, thirteen-time BAFTA nominated and Cannes Palme d\u2019Or-winning director behind \u201cSecrets & Lies,\u201d \u201cVera Drake,\u201d \u201cTopsy-Turvey\u201d and \u201cHappy-Go-Lucky\u201d is more than enough.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHard Truths,\u201d released in late 2024 and Leigh\u2019s first film since \u201cPeterloo,\u201d starred Marianne Jean-Baptiste as a woman wracked by fear, tormented by afflictions and prone to tirades against her husband, son and anyone who looks her way.
