\n\tThe trailer for \u201cA Prayer for the Dying,\u201d which stars Johnny Flynn<\/a>, John C. Reilly<\/a> and Kristine Kujath Thorp, has launched ahead of the world premiere on Friday in Berlinale\u2019s Perspectives section. The film is being sold by New Europe Films and Anton.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is written and directed by Dara Van Dusen, based on the novel by Stewart O\u2019Nan.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is set in the aftermath of the American Civil War, and follows veteran Jacob Hansen (Flynn), whose American dream of a new life in Friendship, Wisconsin quickly becomes a nightmare. When a deadly epidemic and threatening wildfire spread chaos, Jacob \u2013 serving as sheriff, undertaker and pastor \u2013 must fight to save his town, his family and his soul.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBecause of his trauma from the war and dark events from his past, he\u2019s taken on all these roles to atone for these things. He has become everyone for everybody in this town and a husband and a father to Marta and Emilia,\u201d Van Dusen says.<\/p>\n

\n\tKate McCullough is the director of photography, Hubert Pouille is the production designer, J\u00e1n Kocman is the costume designer and Fredrik Morheden is the editor.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Dyveke Bj\u00f8rkly Graver. The co-producers are Vicky Miha, Fenia Cossovitsa, Tristan Goligher, Mimmi Sp\u00e5ng, Kristina B\u00f6rjeson, Pavel Ber\u010d\u00edk, Jana Garajov\u00e1 and Zahra Waldeck.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is produced by Eye Eye Pictures, alongside asterisk*, Blonde, The Bureau, Garagefilm International and Film i V\u00e4st. It is co-produced by Film Kolektiv, Mediefondet Zefyr, Banaccas and Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT).<\/p>\n
