Taylor said to his co-host Jim Hill, \u201cThey\u2019re working on writing episodes right now for future installments, Jim, so I just hope that it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the special\u2019s release, it had a <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2026\/02\/the-muppet-show-earns-a-100-rating-on-rotten-tomatoes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">100% Tomatometer<\/a> (critic score) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/the_muppet_show\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>. That has since only dropped to 98% with an audience score to match. The critics consensus reads, \u201cIt\u2019s time to play the music, it\u2019s time to light the lights \u2014 this spirited return to The Muppet Show\u2018s roots is clever, earnest, and feels exactly right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a data-fslightbox=\"1\" data-type=\"image\" aria-label=\"Open fullscreen lightbox with current image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/the-muppets-show-special-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" alt=\"The Muppet Show revival special with Sabrina Carpenter\" class=\"wp-image-1371589 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/the-muppets-show-special-1.jpg\" data-eio-rwidth=\"1600\" data-eio-rheight=\"900\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The standalone special, directed by Alex timbers, featured Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel. Carpenter was the special guest, alongside appearances by Maya Rudolph and executive producer Seth Rogen. Carpenter, Timbers, Vogel, and Jacobson also executive produced, along with David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Albertina Rizzo.<\/p>\n<p>It premiered on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Did you watch The Muppet Show special?
