This is the fourth time the Spaniard has finished as runner-up, with Davidovich Fokina the highest ranked ATP player without a title<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now after his crushing defeat, former top 10 player John Isner<\/a> has predicted what will now happen to Davidovich Fokina<\/a>.<\/p>\n Isner cannot relate to Davidovich Fokina, having won 16 titles in his career before retiring in 2023.<\/p>\n When discussing Davidovich Fokina\u2019s fourth loss in an ATP<\/a> final on the Nothing Major podcast, Isner suggested that he did not think he would be able to win a title for a while now.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Isner pointed out that all the tournaments leading up to and including the US Open<\/a> are Masters 1000 or higher.<\/p>\n The American also claimed that Davidovich Fokina is probably feeling exhausted both physically and mentally after some late finishes in his wins over Taylor Fritz<\/a> and Ben Shelton<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a feeling that Davidovich Fokina is going to have to wait a lot longer before he wins his first title,\u201d said Isner. \u201cI like his game but I don\u2019t see him winning Toronto, Cincinnati or the US Open. <\/p>\n \u201cI think he has got to be haggard. That tournament physically! I was watching that Fritz match and that match was way up late. That match was crazy brutal in the quarter final, Davidovich Fokina beat Taylor up at 2am in the morning. This DC tournament, as good as it is, is taxing.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I have got to feel for Davidovich Fokina making it all the way to the final and losing those match points. Playing a couple of matches and ending in the wee hours of the morning and then heading to Toronto. He has to be feeling awful right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Steve Johnson says what he thinks will happen when Alejandro Davidovich Fokina arrives in Toronto<\/p>\n There is little turnaround for Davidovich Fokina to take time to reflect on his defeat in the Washington Open final, and he actually flew to his next tournament with the man who beat him, De Minaur<\/a>.<\/p>\n Former world number 21 Steve Johnson<\/a> expects the Canadian Open<\/a> to be a tricky tournament for Davidovich Fokina, with a lot more attention than usual likely to be on the world number 19.<\/p>\n \u201cThe way he lost that final there is going to be some residual effects I feel in Toronto,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cI hope not, but that\u2019s just going to be hard.<\/p>\n \u201cYou guys know how it is, you lose a tough match like that in a final and everybody wants to win a title. He is going to get to Toronto today and everyone is going to talk to him \u2018oh man, tough one yesterday\u2019. Or they are not going to say anything and just give him that look.<\/p>\n \u201cHe knows it, he can feel it, he doesn\u2019t want to be there in that moment so tennis is a brutal sport.
