File photo by Wendy Osher.<\/p>\n<p>The County of Maui Department of Water Supply invites the public to a\u00a0community open house\u00a0from\u00a05:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026,\u00a0to learn about recent amendments to Maui County\u2019s\u00a0Water Use Conservation rules,\u00a0which take effect March 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Free plants, water-saving fixtures and light refreshments will be available for those who attend the in-person event at the\u00a0Velma McWayne Santos Community Center, 395 Waena St., Wailuku.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/John-Stufflebean-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-455949\"\/>Maui County Department of Water Supply Director John Stufflebean PC: County of Maui<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe updated rules are part of our efforts to safeguard Maui\u2019s water and support the community in wise water-usage practices,\u201d\u00a0DWS Director John Stufflebean said.\u00a0\u201cWe invite everyone to join us at the open house or online to learn more and connect with our DWS team members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/p>\n<p>For those unable to attend in person, an\u00a0online presentation\u00a0will be held from\u00a05:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, via Microsoft Teams. The session will include a brief presentation covering the updated rules, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>The Feb. 25 open house will feature a brief presentation on\u00a0changes to the Water Code\u00a0and what it means for the community. After the presentation, attendees may visit the\u00a0DWS Water Conservation booth\u00a0to ask questions about the updates or explore other stations to:<\/p>\n<p>Learn where their drinking water comes from and how it is treated<\/p>\n<p>Explore upcoming projects and initiatives<\/p>\n<p>Receive guidance tailored to their specific water needs<\/p>\n<p>Access additional information and resources<\/p>\n<p>The Maui County Council approved\u00a0Bill 158 in January, amending the County Water Code to address water waste, promote responsible water use and ensure a reliable, sustainable water supply.
