{"id":465657,"date":"2026-02-13T05:50:06","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T05:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/465657\/"},"modified":"2026-02-13T05:50:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T05:50:06","slug":"10-million-to-advance-ai-by-and-for-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/465657\/","title":{"rendered":"$10 Million to Advance AI By and For People"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"callout\">MacArthur announced aligned grantmaking to support <a href=\"https:\/\/humanityai.ai\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Humanity AI<\/a>, a national initiative to build a more human(e) future in which artificial intelligence (AI) is shaped by and for people.<\/p>\n<p>MacArthur today announced $10 million in aligned grantmaking in support of <a href=\"https:\/\/humanityai.ai\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Humanity AI<\/a>, a national initiative to build a more human(e) future in which artificial intelligence (AI) is shaped by and for people.<\/p>\n<p>Humanity AI was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/press\/press-releases\/humanity-ai-commits-500-million-to-build-a-people-centered-future-for-ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">launched by a coalition of funders<\/a> supporting the arts, labor and work, democracy, education, and security that will drive more than $500 million in new investments over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe, as humans, stand at the cusp of AI\u2019s broader societal integration. We are AI\u2019s designers, users, investors, and inventors, and we can also be its governors. We have a unique opportunity to design systems with robust ethical frameworks and guardrails,\u201d said MacArthur Foundation President John Palfrey. \u201cIt is essential that philanthropy resource organizations to help shape AI governance, inform public thinking, and innovate how these digital technologies are built and used.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Focus Areas<\/p>\n<p>The initial grants are aligned with one or more of Humanity AI\u2019s areas of focus:<\/p>\n<p>Democracy: Creating new partnerships and frameworks for AI to advance our democracy and safeguard our freedoms.<br \/>\nEducation: Shaping AI in education around the best interests of students and communities to expand access to knowledge and strengthen how people learn.<br \/>\nHumanities and Culture: Enhancing human creativity and protecting the work of artists and creators.<br \/>\nLabor and Economy: Ensuring AI is used to enhance \u2013 rather than replace \u2013 how people work to create an economy that enables all of us to thrive.<br \/>\nSecurity: Holding people and institutions building and deploying AI to the highest standards to keep people safe and secure.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to these issue areas, Humanity AI will advance knowledge and build infrastructure to enable AI in the public interest.
