{"id":466206,"date":"2026-02-13T12:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T12:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/466206\/"},"modified":"2026-02-13T12:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T12:08:12","slug":"mpa-calls-on-tiktok-owner-bytedance-to-curb-new-ai-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/466206\/","title":{"rendered":"MPA Calls On TikTok Owner ByteDance To Curb New AI Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tStudios are calling on the Chinese owner of TikTok, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bytedance\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bytedance\" data-tag=\"bytedance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ByteDance<\/a>, to cease the use of copyrighted works in a new AI model, which has drawn attention for a Brad Pitt vs. Tom Cruise deepfake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/charles-rivkin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_charles-rivkin\" data-tag=\"charles-rivkin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charles Rivkin<\/a>, the chairman and CEO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/mpa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mpa\" data-tag=\"mpa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MPA<\/a>, said in a statement,  \u201cIn a single day, the Chinese AI service <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/seedance-2-0\/\" id=\"auto-tag_seedance-2-0\" data-tag=\"seedance-2-0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seedance 2.0<\/a> has engaged in unauthorized use of U.S. copyrighted works on a massive scale. By launching a service that operates without meaningful safeguards against infringement, ByteDance is disregarding well-established copyright law that protects the rights of creators and underpins millions of American jobs. ByteDance should immediately cease its infringing activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/02\/cruise-vs-pitt-seedance-viral-ai-hollywood-videos-1236717127\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> by Deadline\u2019s Jake Kanter, Seedance 2.0 users are prompting the Chinese AI tool to create videos that appear to be repurposing, with startling accuracy, copyrighted material from studios, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/disney\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney<\/a>, Warner Bros Discovery and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/paramount\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount<\/a>. In addition to the Cruise vs. Pitt fight, the model has produced remixes of Avengers: Endgame and a Friends scene in which Rachel and Joey are played by otters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tA ByteDance spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTikTok\u2019s U.S. operations were <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/01\/tiktok-sets-deal-for-majority-us-owned-joint-venture-1236694090\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spun off into a separate joint venture<\/a> last month after Congress passed a law requiring a ByteDance divestiture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn October, studios sounded the alarm after OpenAI introduced Sora 2, a service that allowed users to generate works featuring copyrighted characters.
